Not apples... nectarines...

This is a scene that inspired me instantly, but I have been looking at the painting for days now. Am I happy or not? Do I have to darken the shadowside? Do I want to paint it again alltogether and is this a preliminary sketch? I am still thinking about it.

Es precioso, de color, de luz, yo no lo pintaría de nuevo, está fantástico.

I know exactly how that feels - on one hand you wish you did something differently, but on the other, you are afraid you may mess it up if you try to correct it. And we tend to be very tough critics of our own work.
I like the painting! The first thing that impressed me in it was the nice texture of the baskets. The right amount of hard edges make them look really good. And then the glow of the fruits... I think it's a very nice painting!

Esta escena tiene todo para ser pintada. Los colores, las sombras y la composicion. No me extraña que te haya gustado. Te ha quedado un cuadro precioso. Warm regards

I like it. But I understand your feeling. Been there too!

Dear Judy, I understand what you tell in your post.
But this, in my opinion, is already a complete work, made and finished,WELL done!

If you still want to paint this subject... there is no limit to how many times a theme like that, can still give you other good works!

me maravillas con tus acuarelas,

Muchas gracias, Rosa!

Thank you Blaga! I like the baskets too, but there are a lot of things I'd like to do differently, esp. I'd like to make deeper shadows. I think I'll do another painting when I'm ready.

Muchas gracias, Eva!

Thank you Catharina!

You are right, Rita, of course I can make as many paintings of the subject as I'd like! So good to put it all in perspective, thank you!

Muchas gracias, Jose! Un saludo!

Ciao Judy,
Your way to give colours make everything like "velluto" (I don't know in english)...soft and warm...a beatiful effect!

It's funny, Judy, you sound like me, agonizing over a painting for days and weeks!
As a high key watercolor sketch, it is perfect and beautiful!

Hi Judy, I know well this feeling, It happens also to me and often, the day after having finished a painting I have to touch it again. I always find something that in my opinion needs to be added or corrected. I think it is a very personal feeling and only the painter can take the decision.
To me your basket of nectarines looks to be beautiful, but perhaps that if you add what you have in mind, it will be even more beautiful. In any case it is a fantastic watercolor. Hugs!

Beautiful colours, I can understand why you chose the subject. I'd paint it again just to compare the two!

Thank you Jane!

Thank you Floriana! I think you mean 'velvet', that effect comes from painting very wet.

Muchas gracias Mercedes, me alegra que te guste!

Thank you Kathryn, glad I'm not the only one! I'll probably do another one and indeed consider this one a sketch.

Thank you for your comment, Midori! I am not sure what you mean, but maybe you'd like the left side of the fruit lighter. And I think that is a good idea.

Thank you Tito! It is good to know I am not the only one! Usually I try another version, so you will see more nectarines coming by soon!

Thank you Cathy, I'm sure I will!

Ja, ik ken dat ook. Daarom ben ik al maanden (niets) bezig met mijn laatste tekening.
Ik vind het trouwens schitterend zoals je het geschilderd hebt.

Looking forward to see the final result! :)

Questions questions Judy. We artists are never happy with our own work and we know when to stop. I too think this is gorgeous but you are the artist so your gut instinct should tell you how you feel about it. Take a rest for a while and then come back to it with fresh eyes. Whatever you do... Enjoy!!!

Laura Moore zei

Sorry that is supposed to say "we never know when to stop" my typing is dreadful sometimes... lol

Olá Judy!
Está perfeita a tua aguarela. Por vezes uns retoques a mais acabam por estragar o que está feito. Um abraço.
