Little paintings...

Een paar kleine schilderijtjes die ik nog wilde laten zien op mijn blog.
De salamander heb ik vorig jaar geschilderd als cadeautje voor iemand die van salamanders houdt.
En het bolletje wol herken je vast wel!

Two older little paintings that I wanted to show on my blog.
I painted the salamander last year as a present for someone who loves salamanders.
And surely you recognize the little ball of wool!

  1. The salamander as a painting is great. Though I am not sure I would want to meet this little character in real life perhaps. Your little ball of wall is a favourite of mine. It is just so warm and fluffy. Exactly how a little ball of wool feels. ;-)

  2. Thank you Laura. No, not my favourite animal too! :) That's probably why I did not show him earlier.

  4. Ik vind je salamander weer zo goed gelukt. Mooie kleuren. Met je bolletje wol zou ik al direct een zacht knuffeltje willen haken. Ik hou gewoon van je stijl van aquarelleren. Kon ik dat ook maar..zucht!

  8. You made me go to Wikipedia, as I knew only the black and yellow coloured salamanders. This little guy is very cute and I like how you achieved the jelly-like look of the skin. And of course, the ball of wool... I've always liked the softer and looser wool version (I think the original version is cotton :)

  9. Celia, thank you, I'm not sure I would like to meet one in real life!

Voske, dankjewel! Ik ben ook dol op mijn bolletje wol, hij werd al schilderend vanzelf zo pluizig. :)

Thanks Cynthia! Happy weekend to you!

    Dankjewel Danielle, groetjes!

Thanks Sandra, these little paintings deserved a blogpost, I thought. :)

Thanks Blaga, the model came from the internet, I'm not sure I would like to meet him in real life. :) The ball of wool became fluffy on its own while I painted it. :)

  12. It happens the day that looking at our work we consider the past and the future. The wire-ball ,delicious symbol that speaks of you all over the world and the salamander, another powerful symbol of your tenacity and your pursuit of excellence. Little things, exquisite watercolors, and great symbols of your personality, dear friend Judy!

  21. The little salamander really grabs me! I have geckos in my garden that look just like this. They keep me company when I garden - from a distance of course!

  22. I enlarged the ball of wool picture, trying to solve the mystery of its "100% wooliness". With no success.
    Bravo, master.

  23. Hanneke, dankjewel!

Thank you Susan, I'm glad they keep their distance. :)

Thank you Irina! The wooliness was a 'happy accident', trying to soften edges. I also think the quality of the paper is important, this is Canson Fontenay, 100% cotton. I love this paper because it can take playing around with a lot of water.
