Rope...

I found an intriguing little photo on the net and I wanted to paint it immediately.
I think I might have found a new theme. Maybe different colours next time.

Thank you Cathy, Barbra Joan, Kerstin, Lydie, Celia, Helen, Lorraine and Ingrid.

I did not use many colours: indigo, ultramarine blue, burnt sienna and little touches of yellow.

Bonjour Martine, merci beaucoup!

Wonderful, it makes me think of a fisherman's boat, freshly in with the catch, with early morning sun playing across the ropes. Well done!

It is lovely! Isn't it amazing how many colors can be seen in a seemingly simple scene!?

Hanneke said...

Judy said...

Thank you Blaga, I tried to vary the colours a little for each rope.

Your background colors are bolder than normal and it quite suits this piece! Very nice!

Judy said...

Thank you Kathryn and Hilda, I'm really pleased with how it turned out. And I'm certainly going to paint more rope.

Grazie mille, Tito! Abbraccio!

Thank you Laura, I'm trying to paint bolder and use more darks lately. This painting really needed it.

I missed this post Judy, must have got side tracked!
What a great subject, really like how you have done the negative painting to create the lights on the rope, very clever.
