Mispels... Medlars...

Prettig weekend allemaal!

A still life of medlars, I was intrigued by their colour. I used: raw and burnt sienna, gamboge yellow, vermillion red, quinacridone pink, cobalt blue and olive green.
Have a nice weekend, all of you!

P.S. I did not know what medlars were either, because I painted this from a friends photo.
Here you can read more about them: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mespilus_germanica

Really, you used so many colors!? I can see three, maybe four or five... ok, the more I look the more shades come out. The painting is so fresh and the colors glow!

Judy, you always achieve that soft, loose feeling that I try so darn hard to get. !!! Lost and found edges .. well what else do we need? BJ

Beautiful painting. You catch a very nice depth, with these pigments scheme - what interesting - without ultramarine blue.
Great job, Judy.

Mooi Judy. Groetjes

These are so lovely Judy. I never heard of Medlars before - going to check out wikipedia. They look like they may be a veggie. Take care and have a lovely week.
