Zanzibar girl...

This is painted from a photo on Paint My Photo.
As usual I cannot look at it with an objective eye anymore, I only see the things I would like to do differently. I also had problems photographing it, it is a little bluish. But here she is, looking a little older than in the photo. Tips and constructive comments welcome!

  3. Hello,Judy! Not seeing the original photo, it looks SO PERFECT, in line with your style and your colors! Artists are always unhappy about something related to their work and peaceful on the work of others! But that's what makes it grow!Hug,Rita.

  4. Hi BJ! Thank you for your kind words and your visit! Hugs!

Hi Sadami, thank you, I appreciate your comment very much, coming from an expert in painting people! The colours attracted me to the reference photo in the first place, and the pattern of her scarf.

Hi Rita, thank you so much! Yes it's difficult to look at your own work, especially because I am not comfortable with painting portraits. But I like to learn!

  6. Wow wat mooi Judy!! Prachtige zachte kleuren.

  7. Wat een prachtig schiolderwerk Kudy. Zo zacht zo schoon. Super mooie dertails in kleur.

  19. I looked at the photo and your painting has captured everything really well. We never like our own work enough, I've lost count of the paintings I throw away because I am disappointed with them!

  25. Betty, Lydie, Kathryn, Anamaria, Laura, John, thank you so much for your lovely words!

After taking some distance, I just opened up her right (for us left) eye a little more, by adding a hint of eyelashes. And I very softly added a shadow near her nose. Pff, finished! And happy about it! :)
Thank you all for encouraging me!!!
