christmas cards

Dit jaar heb ik kerstschilderijtjes van voorgaande jaren gebruikt om kleine plaatjes te printen die ik op witte kaarten heb geplakt.

A card and a camera...

This is a card that I painted for my cousin's birthday.

The camera is a design I made for a button for my photoblog. I used watercolour, ink pen, felt tip pen, white crayon and white gouache. The outcome was still rather dull, I thought, though I put some colour in the Payne's gray. So I used a photo-editor to add more colour to the button.

Terwijl ik zit te wachten op een bestelling nieuw aquarelpapier, gebruik ik in de tussentijd kleine stukjes papier die ik nog heb liggen, stukken aquarelpapier van een merk dat ik niet zo prettig vind of achterkanten van mislukte schilderijen. Dit muisje is geschilderd op Schut Terschelling aquarelpapier, een bloc dat ik al jaren had en eigenlijk nooit gebruik, 100% cellulose papier. Ik werk liever op 100% katoen, dat veel beter erg nat schilderen verdraagt.

Mijn kerstkaarten zijn klaar en op de post. Ik heb ze dit jaar zelf geprint op aquarelpapier en dat ging heel goed. Hieronder zie je ze uitgestald op mijn schilderplek. Zoals je kunt zien wordt de muur erachter ook wel eens per ongeluk meegeschilderd. :)

While waiting for an new order of watercolour paper, I am using small pieces of paper I have lying around, pieces of watercolour paper of a brand I don't like very much or backsides of failed paintings. This little mouse is painted on Schut Terschelling watercolour paper, a bloc I had for years and hardly ever used, 100% cellulose paper. I'd rather like to work on 100% cotton, because it tolerates very wet painting better. 

My Christmas cards are ready and in the mail. I printed them myself this year on watercolour paper and that went very well. Below you see them displayed on my painting desk. You may notice the wall behind also gets a splash of paint occasionally. :)

Ik heb stapels schilderijen die nooit mijn blog gehaald hebben. Omdat er stukjes van de schilderijen best wel aardig zijn, kon ik ze niet weggooien. Ik heb zo veel bloemen geschilderd in de afgelopen twee jaar, niet te geloven! Ik maakte er kaarten van.

I have stacks of paintings that never made it to my blog. Because I like certain parts of the paintings I could not throw them away. I painted so many flowers in the past two years, I can't believe it!

I made cards out of them.
