Ik heb laatst een boek gekocht over aquarel gecombineerd met andere mediums. Het boek heet Spannend Aquarel door Michèle Reynier. Eén van de technieken die zij demonstreert in haar boek is het gebruik van zijdepapier of vloeipapier.
Om daar zelf mee te experimenteren heb ik oude aquarelschetsjes gebruikt.
I recently purchased a book about watercolour combined with other media. I bought the Dutch version, but the original is called Aquarelle et Jeux de Matière by Michèle Reynier. One of the techniques she demonstrates in her book is the use of tissue paper. To experiment with that myself I used some old watercolour sketches.
Bij de perziken hierboven (zie de eerste versie
hier) heb ik eerst wat meer achtergrond toegevoegd. En toen dat gedroogd was heb ik de hele aquarel ingesmeerd met verdunde lijm en daarop een stuk gekreukt zijdepapier geplakt. Ik vind het effect heel mooi hoe het de afbeelding zachter maakt.
To the peaches above (see the first version here) I first added some more background. And when that was dry I covered the whole watercolour with diluted glue and then stuck a piece of wrinkled tissue paper on it. I really like the way it softens the image.
Hieronder een ander probeersel. Dit tissue papier was wat dikker, en ik wist nog niet precies hoe ik het moest gebruiken. Zie
hier het oorspronkelijke schilderij, dat ik niet zo succesvol vond.
Ik vind deze techniek erg interessant en ga er beslist meer mee doen. Je kunt er bijvoorbeeld ook weer overheen schilderen.
Below another trial. This tissuepaper was a bit thicker, and I did not exactly know yet how to use it. Look here for the original painting, that I did not like very much.
I find this technique very interesting and I certainly will try more of it. You can, for instance, paint over it some more as well.
