the blue bike...




Dit schilderij begon al weken geleden als een 'pen and wash', zie hieronder. Het was geschilderd van een foto die ik ergens in Deventer maakte. 
Wat me intrigeerde waren de blauwe fiets en de poort. Dus die zijn in deze aquarel overgebleven. 
Wel heb ik een pot geraniums toegevoegd.

This painting started life weeks ago as a 'pen and wash', see below. It was painted from a photo I took somewhere in Deventer. 
What intrigued me were the blue bike and the gate. So these remained in this watercolour. 
And I added a pot of geraniums.

    You mastered the art of omitting or, in other words, youplay the right tones of colours and brushstrokes at the right moment within the ingenious!

  8. I like seeing this evolution - from depicting a beautiful scene to distilling only the essential. And how much more lose the second version is! It is as if after you depicted the scene, you were free to improvise.
