St. Nicholas...

Vandaag is Sinterklaas weer aangekomen in Nederland. Met hulp van Zwarte Piet komt hij op 5 december cadeautjes brengen voor alle kinderen in het land. 

Ik heb ook een cadeautje voor jullie.

Stuur me een e-mail en ik stuur jullie de tekeningen van Sinterklaas en Zwarte Piet, die je kunt uitprinten als kleurplaten voor de kinderen.

Today St. Nicholas has arrived again in Holland. With the help of Black Peter he will bring presents to all the children in the country on December 5. 

I've got a present for you too. 

Send me an e-mail and I'll mail you the drawings of St. Nicholas and Black Peter. You can print them for children to colour them.

Schilderen met een grote kwast is leuk om te doen en een goede oefening.
Ik moest denken aan de uitdrukking: "Grote stappen, snel thuis".

Het schilderij van de vissen is losjes gebaseerd op een foto van Ruth Archer op Paint My Photo.

Painting with a big brush is fun and a good exercise. 
I was reminded of the Dutch expression: "Take big steps, get home quickly".

Herinner je je nog dat je ze vond toen je een kind was? Het waren echte schatten!

Ik vond ze in het park gisteren.

Blackbird...

Mr. Blackbird

Voortbordurend op het thema dieren, besloot ik deze regelmatige bezoeker aan mijn tuin te schilderen. Hij heeft deze typische hangende vleugels waardoor hij onmiddellijk herkenbaar is. Als ik in mijn tuin aan het graven ben, houdt hij mij gezelschap en komt heel dichtbij om de wormen op te pikken die aan de oppervlakte komen. Hoe dan ook, niet zo spontaan als het muis-schilderij, maar hier is ie!

Being on an animal theme, I decided to paint this frequent visitor to my garden. He has these typical drooping wings that make him instantly recognizable. When I am digging in my garden, he accompanies me and comes very close to pick the worms that appear to the surface. Anyway, not as spontaneous as the mouse painting, but here he is!
