Hebban olla vogala...

Hebban olla vogala nestas hagunnan hinase hic anda thu, wat unbidan we nu?

Dit is de oudste Nederlandse tekst die ooit werd gevonden. Het is geschreven omstreeks het jaar 1100 door een Vlaamse monnik.
Het betekent:

"Alle vogels zijn al begonnen met nestelen, behalve jij en ik. Waar wachten we nog op?"

Is dat niet romantisch?
Dit nestje heb ik snel en nat en met veel plezier geschilderd. Al schilderend herinnerde ik me die oude tekst.
Echt lente!

~~~~~~~
This is the oldest Dutch text that was ever found. It is written about the year 1100 by a Flemish monk. It is probably part of an old poem or song.
It means:
"All birds have begun making nests, except you and I. What are we waiting for?"
Isn't that romantic?
This little nest was painted quickly, with a lot of water and with a lot of fun.
While painting I remembered this old text.
Really spring!
  6. Thank you... Celia, Simonne, Daniele, Kathryn and Beatriz!
    I feel I lost some light on the eggs because it was such a wet painting. Maybe I'll add a little white gouache highlights.
    Beautiful, today, to be able to remember words so ancient that you now dear judy, have passed down to us. The nest is lively and full of movement, it does so much tenderness and communicates joy. I wish you a lot of happy painting!
  18. Thank you all, dear blogfriends!
    Today I lifted a little paint from the eggs, to create soft highlights. They are a little lighter now.
  21. It is so beautiful how you combined the very wet washes with the perfect texture of the straw. Works so well and so interesting to explore, figuring out how you did it... And I am not envious of your warm weather any more, spring is here too :)
  22. Il testo che ti ha ispirato è pura poesia e il tuo acquerello non è da meno. Si può fare poesia con le parole, ma si può fare poesia anche con i colori. E' davvero bellissimo il tuo nido, Judy. Un abbraccio.
